Social Media Coordinator

Haipeng (Hiker) Yu

Haipeng (Hiker) Yu is a scholar, educator, and wildlife conservation advocate, focusing on advancing interdisciplinary public practice and knowledge communication centred on wildlife and nature conservation. He holds an MPhil from the University of Cambridge (Distinction) and an MEd from the University of Toronto (all A+). His research background is situated at the intersection of international policy, zoology, education, media, and environmental protection.

In his long-term practice, he is committed to connecting wildlife conservation with broader ecological and social issues, with particular attention to biodiversity conservation as well as environmental justice. As a practitioner with extensive experience in both new media and education, he uses visual storytelling and public education initiatives to translate specialised conservation issues into more accessible and actionable frameworks, thereby promoting sustained public engagement with nature conservation.

By integrating research with new media communication practices, he seeks to foster a renewed understanding of nature across different cultural and institutional contexts, encourage public participation, and contribute to building a more sustainable and responsible relationship between humans and the natural world.
