Beatriz Sprada Mira

Beatriz is Brazilian-born and Canada-based communication scholar and journalist, currently a researcher and lecturer at the University of Toronto. She draws from her cross-cultural background to tell all kinds of environmental stories, with a special focus on her home country of Brazil. Her strengths come through especially in her qualitative and community-centered research, as well as her teaching and photography.

Bea has over seven years of experience in the production and research of environmental storytelling. She works in collaboration with local communities to find the best ways to communicate environmental science and stories through culturally relevant narratives. Her award-winning environmental communication work has been published in peer-reviewed academic journals and presented at international conferences around the world.
