Photography Team Member

Karina Dracott is a conservation photographer and marine scientist working along the rugged coast of northern British Columbia. Based in Lax Kxeen (Prince Rupert), her work centres on marine mammals, coastal biodiversity, and the social-ecological systems that sustain northern communities.

As a Research Associate with the Marine Education and Research Society and a founding member of the North Coast Ecology Centre Society, Karina bridges field research, community engagement, and visual storytelling. With a background in humpback whale research and community-driven marine monitoring, she approaches photography as both documentation and advocacy.

She is particularly interested in how imagery can support ecosystem-based management, Indigenous-led stewardship, and deeper public engagement with coastal conservation.
